That's a fantastic disc, BeefO - she wrote some brilliant, original, and brilliantly original Music that in a parallel universe or two is regularly performed and broadcast to huge, enthusiastic audiences.

(I'm not so keen on the folk-inspired pieces; generally prefer the work of the younger members of her family in that regard. And of her "step-granddaughter-in-law", for that matter.)

Yes, a fantastic CD indeed. New to me. Need to get our own parallel universe!

Must investigate other family members - haven’t really mugged up on her and her life (she seems to have died relatively young).

      Have bought the download, btw.

Always highly enjoyable when you discover a composer that you’ve not heard before.

Listening to a stream of this CD on Apple Music. I suspect that I’ll end up buying it.

That's the recording I listened to in preparation for the BaL!

Same here, but I've been listening more to his earlier Sony recording. Not sure which one I like most.

The Naxos Schermerhorn Ives Society critical edition is also good, not as dramatic and no raspberry at the end.

The 'raspberry' is very much there in the Schermerhorn, but very brief, as Ives wrote it, not extended, as Bernstein vitiated it.

I must disagree with you on this Bryn. It certainly is not very much there, and I would go so far as to say it’s not there at all, I simply don’t hear it. I’d say there is nothing that can be described as a raspberry in the Schermerhorn performance!

                        then you must Rouse yourself.......

( I bin listening to some Bruckner as well as old Rousey, but that's a potential bear pit, to be sure.....)
