1 Beethoven: No 13 op130 (with the Grosse Fugue finale)
    2 Mendelssohn: No 6 in F minor op80
3 Walton: Quartet in A minor
4 Vaughan Williams: String Quartet No 2 in A minor
5 Britten: String Quartet No 3
6 Martinu: String Quartet No 5
7 Harris: String Quartet No 3
8 Piston: String Quartet No 3
9 Diamond: String Quartet No 3
10 Borodin: String Quartet No 2
A typically inspired and inspiring selection, SC, all accompanied by the unmistakable sound of rules being broken.

I think antongould will disqualify most of these - I wonder if people arqued in viva voce exams that the rules were wrong and should be changed. No discipline these days Throppple, have they ?

            Mornington Crescent!!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Excellent. Despite having mentioned Britten in another thread, I quite forgot Britten in my own list. Too new to me, I guess. No. 3 does seem to have a lot of supporters on For3.

I like your choices, but couldn't do without Haydn...

I feel bad about it too but I simply must have the 10 on my list.

Very elegantly done. Saly did warn me you were something of a list supremo.

I would only want Haydn, Mozart & Beethoven - you can keep the rest!

                                Oh, but what about Boccherini?

Very good see you. I hope you are bearing up to this cold weather.
