I often wonder how excellent recording enterprises such as Dutton manage to do so well in a niche market. Long may they prosper.

Apparently it's because they have found a niche in the market!

Long may they survive. I do fear that many of those labels that we all know and love will not be here in 5-10 years. Every time I see Lyrita still in business it gives my heart a lift

Dutton seem to have cut back on historical reissues in favour of new recordings of neglected English music.
The offers on sale have been available for quite a long time as bargains, but never as cheap as this. I bought them at a higher price, but I certainly don't regret it, as they are such terrific transfers.
Here are ten of the best I can recommend :-

The Danish State RSO 2disc set

Boult's first recording of Vaughan Williams 6 from 1949, which includes both the original and revised versions

Richard Strauss conducting Ein Heldenleben in 1941

          The BBC Symphony Orchestra 2 disc sets ( Vols 1 & 2 )

Goossens Conducts the Bax 2nd Symphony and Tintagel

Kulenkampff plays the Brahms Violin Concerto

Frandsen and Jensen -Nielsen's 3rd and 6th Symphonies, No. 6 in particular is astonishling good

          Tuxen conducts Sibelius 5

William Kapell's famous performance of Khachaturian's Piano Concerto, not a favourite of mine as music, but what a pianist!

Kathleen Long in beautiful performances of Mozart's Piano Concertos 15 & 24, wioth Leigh's Concertino as a bonus

This will probably be the last chance, historical they may be, but I listen to them often.
