Safe bets are probably Britten, some Verdi and a whole lot of Wagner Of those I recognise, Danzi, mehul, Poulenc and Draeseke would be nice, but far less likely ... the Lutoslawski Symphony this year was interesting, another one perhaps?

George Lloyd, come on just one symphony would be nice.

I bet we don't have an Alkan fest on radio 3

One name I'd be interested to hear something of is Emanuel Moor (1863-1931). Pablo Casals spoke very highly of him in his quasi-autobiography (Casals talking to a friend who then wrote up the conversations). There are one or two recordings of Moor's works on obscure labels but I don't think I've ever heard a note. IIRC Casals reckoned that the big barrier to Moor gaining proper recognition was that he was hopelessly antagonistic to just about everyone he ever met!
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

Yes. Also some Morton Gould (Fall River Legend?) and Gabriel Pierné would be good (Cydalise et le Chevre-pied?)

            very interesting, LMP, thanks.
He might have done very well in the C21 !!

Edit. There are a few bits and bobs on youtube.

You would have thought that the Poulenc 'anniversary' had been this year, the amount R3 broadcast his music in 2012 (he had more pieces broadcast than any of the 2012 anniversary composers except Debussy).

There is an opportunity to do something about the neglect of K A Hartmann, Hindemith and Vanhal, but I doubt they will feature much if at all. R3's track record with lesser known anniversary composers in recent years is absolutely appalling.

Interesting. Is there a list of R3's coverage of individual composers by hours in 2012? If so, I would like to have the details.

My figures for 2012 should be available on January 2nd, but I can only do it by total number of works, chunks, movements etc per individual composer. The system I've used each year since 2009, is that each chunk. extract or complete work counts as one piece, this roughly equates to an average of approximately 10 minutes per work/extract, so 100 pieces roughly equates to a 1000 minutes. It's not perfect but I've used it consistently for 4 years, so the various trends can still be clearly seen.

What a fantastic thing to do. I am a big supporter of this kind of project. It must take you a long time to complete. Sorry to be thick - I also know it is on a bit of a tangent from the OP topic - but where can I find your list for 2011? Is it on the forum?

Yes it is, the two previous ones were on the old R3 message boards, though I still have all the results on my PC. I think the 2011 results are on this thread from around January 1st/2nd 2012. I usually have to spend a few hours in each week going through playlists and the iplayer (you cannot totally rely on playlists anymore), to complete it. I don't get absolutely everything single extract, but I get around 99%.

It would be easier if I could find a way of attaching my spreadsheets to the posting. Does anyone know if this is possible on these Boards?

Given Ed Gardner's recent Lutoslawski recordings with the BBCSO, I hope that he will feature (and not just in the Proms).

Yes. If someone is able to answer your question that would be great.

I have found your excellent threads for 2010 and 2011 -

In 2013, I would like to see coverage given to Lecuona and Lloyd, among others.
