In the late 1960s she called at my place of work, sometimes with Lawrence Leonard or Malcolm Arnold, to chat with my boss. I assumed that with a composer father she had a privileged musical background but I couldn't have been more wrong. She was separated from her birth parents as a small child and experienced life in Germany as the worst possible time.
