Well, there's this. It's perhaps not very pleasant to watch. But if, like me, you've had property vandalised, and found our august police worse than useless, it may strike a chord.

And there is more than a touch of Beefie's comment above.

                Many thanks

Listening as I type. Good job this stuff wasn't about in the 70s - don't think I'd have found the time to go to school!

Phoned the guy about the other movements of the stretched Bruckner - went to voicemail, but I couldn't make sense of it. Something about being too busy making Xmas penis-puddings to take calls. That can't be right!? Do let me know if you hear anything.

Not sure if this is a youtube "gem", but I was interested to see this very young conductor, Edward Yudenich, conducting a fairly ambitious work, Liszt's symphonic poem Les Preludes. I have no idea about the quality of the performance, since I am not that keen on Liszt's music and don't know this work at all, but it seemed to me that Yudenich, conducting from memory, had an overall grasp of the work and the orchestral detail. Childhood prodigies on violin and keyboard are not that unusual these days, but it's quite rare to see a conductor at such a young age (8):

Edward Yudenich conducting F. Liszt - Les Preludes (Эдуард Юденич дирижирует "Прелюды" Листа)

The orchestra is not the greatest (the National SO of Uzbekistan), having suffered from the country's drain of musical talent due to severe funding cuts, but Yudenich comes from a family of highly accomplished musicians. I think he could well have a future as a conductor - he is currently pursuing his studies in America.

Perhaps resident forum Lisztophile Jonathan could comment on the performance....

I know it's an old chestnut, but I have to play this:

Grindingly slow speeds, probably because of the acoustic. Historical interest.

Here's a seasonal offering from one of the greats of the 20th Century, Mel Blanc - he's doing the song - L. Rapchak's trying to keep up - I think it's wonderful.

                                L. Rapchak's tribute to the great voice artist Mel Blanc's wacky 1953 Christmas tune, based on the popular German "Schnitzelbank" song. Same as the version c...
