This is a lovely performance from 2010 of Chopin's Krakowiak played by Nelson Goerner on an Erard piano (Erard 1849; número de serie 21118) accompanied by Orquesta del Siglo XVIII, director: Frans Brüggen - yes Frans Brüggen in Chopin

Ahem, surely you were aware that it was said Frans Brüggen who is the conductor of 'his' Orquesta del Siglo XVIII for the orchetral works in this box?

I've got the box & have listened to the perf but I'd never registered the Frans Brüggen connection, Bryn. What a chump! Lovely piano in the clip

Chris posted this on 20 April.
Searchimg through Arte Live's backlog of goodies I discovered this Coronation of Poppaea conducted by Emmanuele Haim. From Lille it is well directed, with lots of gusto and humour which makes the underlying story so leave bad/sad tastes on the palate.

Since then, the link has expired but the opera is now found on youtube.

                  You Tube gems

We've often had great clips from You Tube sprinkled around the various threads, but not as far as I can see a specific place to post random clips from that ever-deeper mine of gems... Any favourites out there not otherwise posted?

Here to kick it off: Celibidache's own viola joke....

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                  Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
