I hope they show Bernstein's Fairfield Halls performance of the Sibelius 5th with the LSO or better still the Edinburg Festival performance shown on BBC2 but unavailable anywhere now.

The BBC TV Croydon performance of the Sibelius 5th (27 November 1966) was issued on an ICA Classics DVD, though this company seems to have ceased issuing such releases some time ago. Anyway, it's to be found complete on YouTube as per this link and is notable I imagine for the hair-raising tempo of the finale ...

The DVD also featured "The Rite of Spring" from the same Croydon concert and that's on YouTube too, though the two halves of the concert were transmitted separately on BBC TV in January 1967 ...

        Thanks!
Watched and enjoyed the Sibelius, and then a later (1976) Rite.

I wanted to see some Academy of Ancient Music concerts on YouTube. There’s a fair amount on there, which is worth a look.

Being a trumpeter, I may be biased.... but this is stupendous. Mendelssohn’s Octet, 1st movement.

The other movements are on their way, it seems. And on his YouTube page he recorded the whole thing (without the visuals) eight years ago.

The previous recordings I alluded to have now been removed but the new versions of movements 2 and 3 are here

Just found this again while making some online composition tasks for students.

                              So the question is

How does this , connect with Villa Lobos and (allegedly) Elgar (and in my life, a field of sprouts in South Lincolnshire) ?
