    Music Education on Radio 4

There was an interesting programme on Radio 4 at 11.30 this morning: "Changing My Voice" (about singers who change register).

Yes, it was interesting: contributions by Rosalind Plowright (Soprano-Mezzo) and Grace Bumbry (Mezzo-Soprano-Mezzo again) amongst others. The principal idea was the liberation Singers felt at discovering a new voice truer to their personality than the one they began their careers with. (Mind you, I did think that the Baritone who sang Largo al factotum sounded courser as a Tenor!)

I'd give a link, but the i-Player web page is sulking.

Okay, it's talking to me now:

Christopher Gabbitas explores the effects on singers of changing the pitch of their voice.
