London 2012 Festival ("Cultural Olympiad") and that 1952 (!) War Requiem

The brochure for this has just been published and wading through the hideous graphics the serious music seems to be largely confined to the Proms which are already being discussed elsewhere. But I wonder what others make of this? (link here: http://festival.london2012.com/)

Incidentally, one horror stood out from a quick read:

"Coventry cathedral opened in 1952 with the commissioned War Requiem by Benjamin
choral work, so there are high expectations for MacMillan's choral work".

    1952, eh? I know it's only a typo, but didn't anybody proof-read this thing?

Sadly, makropulos, you are more likely to encounter a unicorn chatting to a mandrake on the Charing Cross Road than a Proof Reader.

I'm sure the people who put the "brochure" together had a quick glance through to see if the words made basic sense, but it wouldn't be at all surprising if none of those involved had a secure grasp of the facts about the "Classical" items featured.

It's not just a typo, as the event is specifically described as

"Jubilee Concert with new work by James MacMillan

First performance of a new work celebrating Coventry Cathedral's Golden Jubilee."

modern publishing houses employ very young, inexperienced staff and pay them peanuts.
The bosses work them extremely hard and cream off what little there is in profits in huge executive salaries.

Everything is done on minimum cost, last minute, and with little regard to what is written, or the person who wrote it.

Throw enough mud(or books) and hope some sticks........and if you are director level , b****er off after a couple of years to an even better paid job leaving chaos and all the people you sacked in your wake.........
