    Calling all Fauré fans....

Excited to read just now of a very very tempting new issue (5 September) of a set of all Fauré's chamber music with piano on Virgin Classics, including the brilliant Ebène Quartet (their Fauré quartet came out top in Jeremy Thurlow's BAL I think) plus the Capuçon brothers et al.

It has received a five-star review in the Guardian and at under £3 per disc I am going to find it very hard to resist.

If Mr McGregor prowls these precincts incognito, I would nominate it for detailed coverage in an early post-Prom new season CD Review programme
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

        Thanks for this!

And while I'm here among the like-minded, I just thought I'd say if you don't have this classic EMI set of Mélodies as sung by Gérard Souzay and Elly Ameling, you're in for a rare treat... I honestly can't think of anyone better-suited to interpreting such glorious, delicate music. In a word, exquisite. Enjoy!

            Me too, vindaloo...

plus the quartets and quintets by Domus...

But the EMI set is a little lacklustre I think, don't you? (I don't rate the Parrenins)

Jeepers, that's tempting too... I have yet to get into the piano music, never liked the sound of Stott or Crossley...

If I may quote vinteuil: thanks!
