On Radio 3 we play over whole 17,000 pieces of music a year
On Radio 3 we play overall 17,000 pieces of music a year
On Radio 3 we play over 17,000 whole pieces of music a year
I think probably the latter - out of about 56,000 items broadcast, according to the playlists

My own feeling is that if the present controller has set his stamp on R3 output it's in the sloooow radio-listen-to-the-birdsong-mindfulness which constitutes R3's 'distinctive' equivalent to CFM's 'relaaaxing radio'. It all reminds me a bit of Mr Kipling's French Fancies. It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
