RIP Alice Harnoncourt and Marie Leonhardt

I've just learned of the deaths of both these pioneering baroque violinists, literally within days of each other. Truly the end of an era.

We have much to be grateful to them for.

      A double loss.
I love the recordings of Alice and Herbert Tachezi playing the Bach violin and harpsichord sonatas, with Nicholas sometimes doubling the bass on his gamba - such joy. Never released on CD, IIRC.

Did you catch the Bach chaconne from Marie Leonhardt on YouTube? I don’t think it’s a commercial recording.

I have a non commercial transfer of this, which I can let people have if they wish. I also have a transfer of Harnoncourt’s recording of the Bach gamba sonatas with Tachezi where she occurs in a bonus piece - the trio sonata for two violons BWV 1037 (Walter Pfeiffer takes the other violin)
