    Igor Fyodorovich Stravinsky (1882 -1971)

    Though we have several threads about Stravinsky, none of them is general, so . . .

    Johnny Reinhard posted this on Facebook this morning:

    Here is my new discovery, Igor Stravinsky's idealized scale for his music in the future based on his own words.
    IGOR STRAVINSKY’S SCALE IN HIGHER HARMONICS
    Deduced by Johnny Reinhard through 8th octave of the overtone series (128) tuning.
    Notated Pitch Cents Harmonic Interval Tempered
    A (ET1) = 0 1 unison identical
    A# = 92 135 sm. semitone -8
    Bb (ET2) = 105 17 semitone +4
    B (H) (ET3) = 204 9 major 2nd +4
    C (ET4) = 298 19 minor 3rd -2
    C# (ET5) = 397 161 major 3rd +3
    Db = 408 81 Pyth ditone +8
    D (ET6) = 501 171 “perfect” 4th +1
    D# = 590 45 D# -10
    Eb (ET7) = 600 181 tritone-less than a cent
    E (ET8) = 702 3 perfect 5th +2
    F (ET9) = 798 203 minor sixth +2
    F# (ET10) = 898 215 major sixth +3
    Gb = 906 27 Gb +6
    G (ET11) = 1001 57 minor 7th +1
    G# (ET12) = 1103 121 major 7th +3
    Ab = 1110 243 big major 7th +10
    17 TOTAL NOTATED PITCHES

    It will never catch on. Not so much discovery as invention I suspect.

      It might be worthwhile for you to follow the FB discussion. I can't really copy all the salient issues from there to here. Johnny Reinhard is not hard to find there.

        RB started a thread last year:: http://www.for3.org/forums/showthrea...ch-(1882-1971)

        Is that not general enough?

        Anyway, Agon was broadcast last night on TTN. Stravinsky at his best IMV - ballet, and the emotion shines through the sparse music.

          Not sure why, but that thread did not show up when I searched for thread titles containing "Stravinsky". By all means, merge the two.
