I just noticed that musescore has some inbuilt synthesisers as instruments - though these are well hidden. Obviously the program is based around synthesisers to realise the sound of "standard" instruments, though the declared original aim of the program was to facilitate notation, rather than sound production.
I discovered that selecting a bar, then pressing the 'i' key gives a panel with a menu "All Instruments" as an option. This might not happen with other routes to instruments, as often only general instruments are found under the heading "Common". In the menu which appears under All Instruments there is a section now (MS version 3.5 and above - but may have been available before ...) called Electronic, which has various synthesisers, though when most are selected all that appears for notation is a treble and bass stave.
Eventually I discovered that there are also Ondes Martenot and Theremin as inbuilt instruments within the system, but I've been trying to find out what kind of notation there is for such. Glissandi (another palette which sometimes disappears, and takes effort to find again) don't really work too well.
Can I change the size of this as displayed in For3 Forum? Otherwise I'll have to shrink it, and upload a smaller version to Imgur.
For guitars there is a bend notation (used above) in musescore, which can be applied to other instruments, but coming back to the headline for this - "How does one notate music for the electronic instruments highlighted here?"
Maybe this is also an issue for general synthesisers. Perhaps "standard" music notation, even with significant additions and modifications just doestn't really work well enough.
If anyone is interested in hearing what this example sounds like, let me know - either here or by PM if my message box permits. It is only an example though, meant for testing.
