I guess I should be really careful what I say on a public forum such as this, but after some 20 years of owning Sibelius, no longer is it the programme it once was, once it left the Finns.

But maybe I’ve said too much already.

I was more of a late adopter, having moved over from real ink in 2010, at the point where I convinced myself I could make it look as good (if not as individual) as handwriting and was capable of setting down all the unorthodox notations I might need (see link above!). Since then it's hardly changed as far as I'm concerned (since I'm not interested in using it for playback), but I don't have a problem with that. I wouldn't want to take time away from the real work to learn a whole new way of doing things unless I really had to, or if some other program really offered massive advantages, but so far neither has happened. I do keep my eye on developments though.

I should have looked at the PDF example in mag 12 more closely. The principles which Richard and I have suggested separately should work. Make what you want in a notation editor of your choice, then export the relevant sections or take screen shots. I hadn’t spotted the unusual nature of the notation in the entoptic piece, though it might have been done using a custom made stave or tablature. Very interesting.
