Cloughie at al, if you don't mind live recordings this box should bring much pleasure, as it has to me https://www.amazon.co.uk/Prague-Reco...s=music&sr=1-2 Including the Sibelius concerto under Ancerl from this morning's R3 Breakfast, unless there are two such.

This is a disc that’s never far from my player. Stunning live accounts of Elgar and Sibelius, from the RFH in 1984 and a 1993 Prom.

RIP Ida
It is a great shame considering how well she was playing even until the mid 1990s that no opportunity was taken to record her more extensively. EMI did of course record her in the Sibelius,Britten and Walton with Berglund but after the strangely slow Elgar with Boult that was it - what a shame EMI did not record with her and the CBSO/Rattle in the 1980s - that Testament disc of the Sibelius and Elgar at the Proms is stupendous and her very last Prom was that dazzling 1994 Britten on a disc from BBCMM .

I'm a little disappointed that Andrew didn't mention the death of Ida Haendel on Record Review this morning. (At least not yet but the programme is almost over). Ms. Haendel was not noted for keeping her opinions to herself and I'm sure that cross words were exchanged after she was dropped from the Proms which makes me wonder if there's still a bit of bad blood between her and the Beeb.
I'm probably talking nonsense but the death of other great artists has often been acknowledged on RR.

Let us remember she was dropped after two stunning Proms the 1993 Sibelius and the 1994 Britten. She was undoubtedly the victim of sexism and ageism.

I looked it up on Amazon and found it. Alas, by the time I logged in, the £22 one had disappeared leaving only one at £40! I'll keep looking though as it looks very tempting.

Meanwhile, also with the Swedish RSO:

The Beethoven with Segerstam conducting is dynamite as is the Chausson .I recommend this Weitblick set unreservedly .Last edited by Barbirollians; 24-08-20, 22:28.

Request for help!
I'm compiling the list for BaL on 10 April 2021 (Stravinsky: Violin concerto) and I'm finding it hard to discover the performers on Ida Haendel's recording that's included in her Supraphon Prague Recordings 1957–1965 set from the Presto site and from the Supraphon site itself.
Czech PO/Ančerl or Prague SO/Smetáček?
Thanks in advance!
