    I'd like to boldly suggest...

I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

It was, and I suspect it brought many to the attention of this work. I remember someone joking - “Rachmaninov composed two symphonies: the 2nd and the 3rd”.

Strangely haunting since the 60s... Gave me a lifelong penchant for French horn counter-melodies
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Not the theme tune. It accompanied the camera travelling through the ‘Gallery’ of viewer-submitted artwork
"...the isle is full of noises,

                ..check out the remarkable lyrics...

"When the last light warms the rocks,
                And the rattlesnakes unfold,
Mountain cats will come to drag away your bones".

Amazing opening sequence... sometimes I think there'll never be better TV than True Detective... Still cry thinking of the last line in TD1 - "if you ask me, the light's winnin..."..... (Matthew McConaughey as Rust Cole).

The Mandalorian is running it close though.... (watching it for the 3rd time now....I guess I just have an addictive personality...)...anyone spot the 20thC work the theme reminds me of...?
                (Big Clue.... Boston, Op.50...)

                Anyway, back to Beethoven....

This has been a real earworm since we watched the series earlier this year (apologies if there is an advert at the beginning, I don't know how to get rid of those or even if that's possible):

Jacky Lee had a good thing going with children's theme tunes, there was also Rupert the Bear.

Champion the Wonder Horse - though Rebel the dog seemed to do most of the hard work as I recall.

I'll never forget the devastating impact of the Clannad theme over the end credits of the final episode of Harry's Game, after such an unpredictably downbeat denouement.....nobody wins......
                            Fantastic TV....
