That was the ident for secondary schools programmes. I wrote the ident for primary schools programmes. Incidentally they've both been released recentlly together on a 7" vinyl single!

I think the sheer emotional impact of the haunting opening titles of 'The World At War' has never been, and never will be, surpassed.
I would say it is equalled only by the closing shots in the last episode of 'Blackadder Goes Forth, which I, for one, will never forget.
The only reference to the use of Bruckner's music in 'The World At War' that I can find is an extract from the 5th symphony in Episode 2. His music has also featured in, among others series, 'A Very English Scandal', 'Mad Men', 'Dr Who', and 'Mr Bean'.

Carl Davis, yes it was and still is a brilliant theme for a memorable series. I meant to mention it before.
