If they were REALLY serious about fund-raising, they would have gone for 'Parsifal', or at least Havergal Brian's 'Gothic'.

And they wouldn't have limited the run to a mere 500. I imagine the whole commentary thingy has been carefully choreographed to ensure the presenter tells us how tired she is as the coda of the finale begins, and how she is struggling to get to the finish line before the final chords.

Whilst on the one hand I know I could smugly beat any Beethoven 5 performance over 5k, with or without repeats, I want no part of a Radio 3 broadcast that focussed on presenter who’s running and commentating with the symphony as wallpaper.

Sickening.

i’m looking for a work that lasts about 26 mins , as it goes. And then maybe one with a repeat missing, that comes in around 25 mins , sometime in the next month or two .

The BBC is so naff. The most important thing for them is the names of presenters who are doing the official run. I would say this is more an indication of selfishness, given the restricted number of places.
Still, if keeps EA (the other one) off air for 35 minutes, maybe it's a good thing.
