It's one thing to be the victim of such events you mention, and quite another to vote for a situation that inevitably puts you at more risk of being dispensible.

But how do we know how each of the Nissan workers voted in either the corruptly run referendum or the recent General Election?

        Sunderland voted 61.3% leave:

Up to the minute results for the 2016 EU Referendum from BBC News

Admittedly that doesn't mean Nissan workers voted that way, so point taken.

Nissan was always planning to manufacture the new X-trail in Japan. There has never been any secret about this. The fundamental reasons are falling European sales forecasts for the X-trail and the plant investment costs for meeting the new emissions regulations (limiting the cost to domestic plants). Any uncertainty around the UK's withdrawal is a marginal issue. Please give a little more detail about Nissan's move from Sunderland to Poland that you refer to - I haven't picked up on it.

But they were tricked into voting for leave by unscrupulous politicians and a Leave campaign that broke the law. They are also mainly lower educated and elderly. Should we really be that harsh on them.

                Yes
I'm not going to waste my empathy on those who willfully did this
There are plenty of people who need our support and compassion but the deluded Brexit voting idiots ?
                Nope

                  I did say might.
Poland or anywhere else where it will be easier to operate from than the UK.

Why would you want to manufacture anything here any more when parts will have to be imported and exported with all the associated red tape and such like?
Oh: hang on a minute; we were going to get rid of all that, weren't we?
And naturally any outcome that is detrimental to the UK will be spun as the EU having revenge, won't it?

Using Occam's razor, we can conclude that most of them voted to remain in the referendum and Labour in the GE and therefore are blameless in all this.

The age profile of the Sunderland Nissan workforce maps onto the national Remain and Labour voting profiles. Even making some adjustments for the local/national aspect of the data, we must conclude that they voted to remain.

But were they really acting with a free will? If they were tricked, lied to (remember the bus), of low education?

Thanks for clearing that up, I didn't think Poland were under consideration for the new X-Trail production.

And Nissan's location decision-making is not based on fleeing the UK for somewhere, anywhere better.

I don't actually understand any of this, so I shan't say anything!

Oh: we could have had blue passports anyway, but it's so nice to blame Europe isn't it?
Well quite; yet another EU myth(or as I call it, lie)
