And BeefOven! tried to have us believe that this was Project Fear when raised earlier as a likely consequence.

Musicians from outside the UK will need to apply for a visa and pay to perform in the country from 2021, the Home Office has confirmed.

      The phrase

      "WE TOLD YOU SO"

      springs to mind

It's about time those in the privilidged position of being large ensembles/organisations stood up for the rest of the music community and made a huge fuss about this IMV
Maybe stopping playing when any member of this odious government is spotted in the audience would be a start ?

Not content to systematically destroy music education & the BBC this nonsense really needs to be stopped.

Come on you don't think these cultural vandals will actually go to concerts, or art events do you?

Actually it's not only music education which is suffering - despite protests by government that it is investing more in schools than ever before. Yes - by some measures, but the reality is rather different.

          Some of them do.
If they were treated the same way that those making racist chants at football matches were we might get somewhere.
(though this isn't going to happen i'm afraid)
but it is time for musicians and those who support them to support their community. IMV

You're probably right - totally hypocritical - but then, what can you expect from politicians of a certain type?

Absolutely spot on Gongers. Sadly, the only people who can stop it will be 'civilised' members of the Tory Party who realise the damage being done by the Cummings Tendency, realise their leadership is bonkers, and put the skids under them. Either that or a full-blooded Revolution, of course.

I've just spent the last week working with some of the most incredible and talented young musicians i've ever encountered
for them, and their peers, the best advice is to try and get yourself a non-British passport and leave the UK if you can

Sadly, those who are complicit in this, who voted for it, don't give a toss about music or culture.

I see that they Pretty and BoJo are parading our new blue passport.
Pretty can't wait to have one.
Maybe she'll use it and not come back.

They are, of course, produced in Poland, like the next generation of Nissan cars might be.
Hard luck, Sunderland; this will be what you voted for.

Home grown folk music to make a big comeback. And fish’n’chips of course. You heard it here first.

With any luck wrapped in unsold copies of the Daily Whale (?), as we won't have to abide by those dreaded EU regulations any more.

Oh: we could have had blue passports anyway, but it's so nice to blame Europe isn't it?

                          Schadenfreude - perhaps?

Well, my sympathy will be limited, that's for sure.

Globalisation and systemic change in the automotive industry is the cause of location and relocation of manufacture. In 2015, when the UK was part of the EU and there wasn't even an inkling of Brexit, Ford UK shifted production of the Ford Transit (backbone of Britain) from Southampton to Istanbul. The logistics of which, were funded by a lower interest rate loan of 4 billion Euros from the European Investment Bank.

I deeply sympathise with anyone who loses their job, especially after so many years, whether Geordies or Southampton folk.
