https://www.nme.com/news/non-uk-musicians-will-need-visa-to-perform-in-the-country-from-2021-2612337Musicians from outside the UK will need to apply for a visa and pay to perform in the country from 2021, the Home Office has confirmed.
The phrase
"WE TOLD YOU SO"
springs to mind
It's about time those in the privilidged position of being large ensembles/organisations stood up for the rest of the music community and made a huge fuss about this IMV
Maybe stopping playing when any member of this odious government is spotted in the audience would be a start ?
Not content to systematically destroy music education & the BBC this nonsense really needs to be stopped.

Actually it's not only music education which is suffering - despite protests by government that it is investing more in schools than ever before. Yes - by some measures, but the reality is rather different.

If they were treated the same way that those making racist chants at football matches were we might get somewhere.
(though this isn't going to happen i'm afraid)
but it is time for musicians and those who support them to support their community. IMV

I've just spent the last week working with some of the most incredible and talented young musicians i've ever encountered
for them, and their peers, the best advice is to try and get yourself a non-British passport and leave the UK if you can
Sadly, those who are complicit in this, who voted for it, don't give a toss about music or culture.

Pretty can't wait to have one.
Maybe she'll use it and not come back.
They are, of course, produced in Poland, like the next generation of Nissan cars might be.
Hard luck, Sunderland; this will be what you voted for.

Oh: we could have had blue passports anyway, but it's so nice to blame Europe isn't it?

I deeply sympathise with anyone who loses their job, especially after so many years, whether Geordies or Southampton folk.
