In the film of The Children’s act Emma Thompson ‘plays’ a Fazioli boudoir grand in her flat - a somewhat implausible £120,000 birthday gift from her subsequently adulterous husband . She then goes on to give a performance at one of the Inns of Court on another Fazioli. Is this an example of the world’s most optimistic product placement or did Fazioli sales shoot up afterwards?

Not for the first time, either; some years ago, a Bösendorfer 290 (I think) was subject to the same treatment and, a few years before that, I was inolved in a recording session in which the same thing happened to what was definitely a Bösendorfer 290 and, in each case, the instrument was a write-off; indeed, in the case that I knew about, it was dropped onto a church floor and did at least £5K's worth of damage to that.

Poor Angela, what a horrible thing to happen. Moving any piano is potentially hazardous but that was disastrous.
We moved out an old upright a couple of months ago to replace it with an even older Lipp grand. The Lipp was so heavy that it took 6 men to move it and getting it over the threshold up two steps almost broke the aluminium bridge used by the removers; I thought the piano was a goner but they just about managed it.

Perhaps that's someone upstairs' way of letting her know that the harpsichord is the correct instrument for this repertoire!

I’m currently helping a London church to establish the provenance of an old Broadwood. Not as difficult as it sounds as the instruments are very well documented. The owners have a soft spot for it, but frankly, I doubt whether it’s worth the expense of restoring. Wouldn’t mind in the least if it suffered the same fate as the Fazioli. It would be doing us all a favour and we could replace it with something more versatile. Tragic experience for Angela Hewitt, though. Must be able to salvage some parts for spares, though, surely ...
