    Certainly Not Suffolkcoastal

We have not seen Suffolkcoastal’s annual survey for 2019

Andrew has, as a backup, produced a file from his wonderful database and this gives the second figure as the 2019 total against last year’s figure

    2 MOZART W A 1478 1477
    3 SCHUBERT 1146 1154

    5 DEBUSSY 825 709
    6 BRAHMS 806 850
    7 HANDEL 729 770
    8 HAYDN F J 715 787

We still hope the “proper” survey appears ......

    - indeed, I hope Suffy is well and enjoyably active, and has grown so exasperated with R3 that he's decided to spend his time composing and enjoying cocktails brought to him somewhere on a beach in the Caribbean.

BUT - many, many thanks to anton and Andrew for this wonderful resumé.

I suspect that Beethoven will have moved up the table this time next year!

Was Britten really only 17 when he died (assuming those dates are B.C.)

Many thanks, much appreciated. But rather depressing. (Where's Glock when you need him?)

I bet 70% of the Debussy is La Mer, L’ Ile Joyeuse and Feux d’Artifice

Questions such as these can be answered from the data ..... but I will wait a few more days to see if the real thing turns up, as IIRC Suffie has all sorts of year on year comparisons built in .......

They seem to like playing only two works by Berlioz. Le Corsair or Carnaval Romain, or ill add another, Symphonie Fantastique.

On things such as this to get the proper answer you would need someone much more knowledgeable than me doing the analysis ....
You are working with how the BBC staff have entered the title on the database ...... for example I can see 23 entries for L’Ile’Joyeuse entered 5 slightly different ways .......

Let’s compromise On 85 per cent for all four ..
Both L’Ile and Feux now also getting regular outings in orchestral arrangements which though very well done are for me just not percussive enough ..
Just noticed Anton’s post - these Debussy pieces are all excellent filler length which is terribly unfair on Wagner ...

... or Stravinsky, Shostakovich, Walton ... before we get on to Tippett then Thomas Ades ..., and. I think we need at least the top 50 to get a more balanced picture, and perhaps a histogram representation.

If I had the time I’d work out total durations which might bring Bach ( all those preludes and fugues ) down and restore Bruckner and Mahler to their rightful place in the sun.,
