Symphonies the B.B.C. knows not of

Symphonies the B.B.C. knows not of

I have been lookng up all the worthwhle symphonies that are never or hardly ever broadcast by the B.B.C.

There must be something like five hundred composers, and well over a thousand symphonies.

Here are the composers I have found on youtube, and analysed. Just a very small random percentage so far:
Absil, Alfano, Bainton, Bendix, Blacher, Boughton, Bowen, Casella, Cowen, Dopper, Emmanuel
Foerster, Fortner, Gédalge, Gibbs, Louis Glass, Gretchaninoff, Honegger, Kalomiris, Khachaturian, Malipiero, Martinu, Marx
    Ludolf Nielsen
Palau, Parry, Raitio, Rangström, Raphael, Ropartz, Sæverud, Sauguet, Shebalin, Škerjanc, Stanford, Toch, Victory, von Webern

Pointers to all their individual symphonies at youtube are arranged here:

William Wordsworth composed 8 symphonies. In the period covered by the BBC Genome (1923-2009) only 4 appear to have been broadcast:
    1st: 23/7/46, 24/7/59, 17/12/68
    3rd: 11/6/53, 21/8/85, 18/4/95, 17/10/2000
    5th: 22/8/79
    8th: 14/11/86, 17/3/87, 23/7/87

I have a 4-CD Lyrita set of British Symphonies - I don't know how often some of them have been broadcast.

We might be due another annual summary from Suffolk Coastal on the music played.

Indeed - and, particularly pertinent to this Thread:

Given his high profile in America, the BBC has done a poor job presenting the music, including the four symphonies , of Christopher Rouse, which is rather sad.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

Many thanks for all the responses and suggestions. I will deal with them in order, which may take a few days.

First to Mr. LMcD and William Wordsworth, who was born in London in 1908. I have found recordings of six of his eight symphonies at youtube, and posted links to them. That leaves numbers six and seven now missng.

Thank you - I shall investigate, having previously heard only Nos. 2 and 3. The probably less- or little- known symphonies featured on my 4-CD Lyrita box set SRCD.2355) are by W S Bennett, Cyril Rootham (No. 1), Humphrey Searle (No. 2) and John Joubert (No. 1)

Next thanks to Dave2002 with Peterson-Berger, who was born at Ullånger, Ångermanland in 1867, and wrote five symphonies. I have found recordings of all five of them at youtube, and posted links to them.

"Symphonies the B.B.C. knows not of" (!) effectively means "Symphonies of which BBC has yet to reveal its knowledge by broadcasting them". There are so many in the past 100 years that there will inevitably be many gaps in broadcast output. That some mid-20th century American symphonists have been mentioned prompts me to wonder, for example, when BBC ever broadcast any of Sessions' nine symphonies (I've no time to look it up right now)...

For the period 1923-2009 the BBC Genome lists broadcasts of No. 1 (twice), No. 2 (5 times), No. 8 (once) and No. 9 (twice).
