I hope I'm right in having seen a comment recently that the Taneyev Quartet's complete set of string quartets is worth having, as I've just placed an order: the symphonies might have to wait a bit longer.
Any suggestions on where to start? I know 6 and 24 and I've heard 21 is good. Any other tips? And are there any "don't bothers" (in the manner of DSCH 2/3)?
A super bargain that,no duds IMO.
Start with No 10,it's fantastic and very short then try No 27.
The 6th is an absolute masterpiece,a pity Svetlanov doesn't include the chorus in the finale

Very sound suggestions, Edgy, to which I would add the single movement, achingly sad, #13.
