    On BBC Radio 4 Extra tomorrow at 0630 and 2030 and at 0130 on Tuesday:
    In a programme first broadcast in 2013, Ian Bostridge opens a window onto one of Benjamin Britten's strangest musical works.

    It never struck me as being particularly strange. Indeed, it was one of the first works of his I really took to.

      Perhaps the person who lists the station's schedules finds it strange - it's not a word I personally would use to describe it.

          OK maybe not 'strange' to us now, but in defence of LMcD's original post (thanks for the head-up, BTW) Britten's espousal of the Japanese No plays was something of a departure for him and arguably for 20th century music. I've always loved it and the other 'parables' too. And, as LMcD points out...on Radio 4 Extra? A bonus surely.
