George Adams and Don Pullen formed a quartet in the early 1980s, with Danny Richmond if I remember correctly. Straight ahead stuff but very wild with freeish soloing. It was very popular over here at the time, I do remember. Andy Sheppard had a pianist back then who "did" Don Pullen-style - forefinger zipping up the white keys sideways on - in the Bristol-based band Sphere. Geoff Williams was his name. No relation.
