    Another example of a considerable French composer pretty well ignored and thus unknown in this country - including by me!

      Possibly because he was principally a considerable French organist who was, like many of his colleagues, quite unable to refrain from composition. I do not dislike his compositions, but I wish he had spent more time in recital. Of all his records, I would urge you to listen to his Franck recordings: they feel as though he was recomposing the pieces, and in fact by his often cavalier (but insightful) disdain for Franck's tempi, he may have been.

        That's fair and insightful, AM. I'm no admirer of Jean Guillou, compositeur.
