Can ain't prog - they are experimental avant-garde non-blues based rock
Nor are Neu! Best described as Krautrock
You don’t arf write rubbish on occasions - for somebody who wanted no definitions that’s a good one for prog! That definitin describes a certain band with initials KC! You’ll be telling me next that they (KC) were prog, but they sort of progressed!

That's the beauty of this subject! It is totally impossible to define prog rock, but everyone has a clear idea of what is prog and what's not.
The first two KC albums (without TSB) were definitely prog rock, but the KC album (also without TSB) that I have listed as my #1 prog rock album of all time, LTIA, is definitely NOT prog rock!!!!

Yes it is - they have progressed. Prog does or should. You youngsters don’t share the history of its development.

Prog rock isn't about progressing to, it's about having progressed from. As a member of the younger generation in this forum, I'm probably better place to offer an opinion with fresh eyes and ears

Nah yer know nought!
Your ears have been numbed by lousy punk music!
Great thread for someone who knows nxt to nothing about it.
But where, amongst all these lists, should I go next, as someone who loves Yes and knew the Peter Gabriel Genesis, and King Crimson's Court of the Crimson King, and grew out of ELP years ago? (Already ordered Larks Tongue in Aspic)
Bear in mind that I tend to listen to this music in the car, so it shouldn't make me go too fast...
