Based on my earholes at concerts over the last few years, the LPO are deserving of any such accolades.

        .

... the BPI reports sales of classical CDs were up by 10.2% in 2018, and streaming of classical works up by some 42%.

But as Richd: Morrison notes today, "Very few of the 30 bestselling classical albums were of symphonies, concertos or sonatas. In fact, seven were film soundtracks and the rest largely celebrity performers going through their party pieces. Of the latter group, an album called Si by the Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli accounted, incredibly, for a tenth of all classical sales, with Katherine Jenkins, André Rieu, Ludovico Einaudi and the dynamic duo of Aled Jones and Russell Watson also featuring in the Top Ten. With due respect to these charismatic legends, all are more famous for advancing their careers than advancing their art forms."

        .

YouGov is an excellent survey on many things. Scarily, their findings here seem to bear out what we know about your common or garden classical music fan.

Based on what someone has defined as classical music. What I find strange here is the mixture of singers, orchestras and dead composers.

Dead composers are the best, don't you find?
(not that we should kill any)

That's reassuring BO. Never quite sure what position you are going to take, in generating a few responses.

I don't mean to keep you on your toes CS, but I do look to generate a few responses with my posts and threads, that much is true.

                        No, because some were cremated.
