    Indeed, it is, saly. I've just got The Henry Wood Proms, David Cox, (BBC 1980) off the shelves as it covers the PROMS programming from its Queen's Hall inauguration, 1895, to the end of the 1970s. Published in hardback at £8 75!

      interesting to hear an extract of Gerontius in German and that women were thought to be without the necessary muscles to play the violin

        Yes only just heard it on iPlayer. Old programmes are fascinating. When I worked in a hire library Ioften found vocal scores of Victorian works [Maunder, Stanford, Parry etc] that still contained concert leaflets stating at what time Carriages should be at the door at the end of the concert. It seemed then in the 1950s to bridge the years as very few things can. An interesting little programme.
