    Free concerts

I just found this, which looks good - https://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/wh...morphosen-2018 6pm Thursday !st November

When I looked for the pricing it seems to be free. Presumably one of the foyer concerts. Unfortunately I won’t be able to go, but others may be able to enjoy it.

The Philharmonia Orchestra website definitely says it's FREE.

They put on "commuter jazz" there for free until a few years ago. Shame it was stopped - not sure Strauss's "Metamorphosen" wiould make for a happy end to a working day in the City, before the ever-challenging journey home.

I agree Metamorphosen is a curious choice.

Off to an 'Open Ear' concert at LSO St Luke's tomorrow. Free for me and other successful appliers (appliees?) for BBC Audience tickets, with other tickets available for ready money.

Anyone with access to Leeds might be interested in this year's series of free lunchtime concerts.

At the College of Music (Wednesdays):

Featuring some of the most talented young musicians at the start of their professional careers alongside students from the UK’s leading conservatoires and junior colleges.

              At the University (Fridays):

To me, t did not seem to fit the context. However, a little Googling confirmed its applicability.

Thanks for this link, Dave. Takes me back to the 1960s when I would attend organ recitals in the Brompton Oratory, just up the road, when time permitted.

Just had an email from the Beeb's ticket unit. Looks an interesting afternoon concert:

Purcell arr. Joby Talbot Chacony in G minor
Mahler arr. Britten What the Wild Flowers Tell Me (Symphony No. 3 - third movement)
                      Finzi Dies Natalis
Korngold orch. Zemlinksy Der Schneemann: Prelude & Serenade
                      Janacek arr. Erwin Stein Sinfonietta

                      Anna-Maria Helsing conductor
                      Alessandro Fisher tenor
                      BBC Concert Orchestra
but just who "Zemlinksy" is beats me.

I'm going to hear Ian Pace play Vingt Regards from 6pm that day (Friday 13th Dacember) so with the BBCCO being broadcast live, I should be able to attend both.
