They probably don't see or hear classical music at all! I wonder how Ed Balls' piano lessons are going?

      From NME:

Speaking of his musical tastes at large, Corbyn continued: “I’ve got to ’fess up here: I’m not very musical but I love music. When I’m at home late in the evening I have Classic FM on or I have Radio 3 on or I put some music on of other sorts. I listen to a whole range of things. I do love much classical music; I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for Mahler, actually. I think this is going to get groans all round the room as I speak now, but I also like folk music, I like listening to some jazz, I like listening to world music as well. Because, essentially, music is very interesting history.”

          From Wikipedia, but not challenged:

Corbyn was educated at Castle House School, an independent preparatory school near Newport, Shropshire, before attending Adams' Grammar School as a day student.

Good for Jeremy...but sorry he had to apologise for enjoying classical music.

Wasn't he apologising for liking "folk Music" in that quotation?

That's what the punctuation would indicate.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Well, he needn't apologise for that either!

                        In your humble opinion?

                          Of course
But what on earth does he mean by that anyway ?

It's not the only thing he is very confused about though, is it?

Well, as you say, music is not divorced from everything else in the world. The history of music reflects a developing society/civilisation. Some people find history interesting.

                            Dunno what he meant, though

The leader of "the other lot", whatever his musical preferences, has said he would give all children the opportunity to learn a musical instrument.

                                but music isn't "essentially" that
