I am very naughty! I keep forgetting to catch up on this programme! That sounds like a good combo, Dover, Lassus and de Victoria.

Shades of Kind Hearts and Coronets:

          - He says he wants to expand his mind.
          - He certainly has room to do so.
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

What is slightly sticking in my throat is that PP's own choir is getting ....ahem.....rather a lot of plays.
Bet he's trying to keep a straight face.

And how many choirs did we have similar to the mix of trebles etc which Lassus, Victoria etc would have heard in their head as they wrote and would thus expect to be singing the pieces?

                Totally excellent episodes so far.

In overview, and just being an interested listener, the Virgin Mary seems to run deep as a source of inspiration (a good point of Catholicism, I guess).

Always having to catch up on this series, as it’s always a bit late in the day for me.

I shall be keeping copies of this excellent series.

Have been catching up from time to time on the iPad; and I must say that contrary to:

what struck me from occasional listening is that the Tallis Scholars didn't get much of a look-in: from what I heard, I was impressed by PP's even-handedness in featuring other choirs.

Totally non-scientific reaction of course - might be interesting to go through the playlists and tot up the score for Tallis Scholars v. The Rest...

I am making my own playlist on Spotify of music that comes from this series.

I don't think the Sixteen have featured yet, but loads of other choirs have.

                            A thoroughly absorbing series.

I notice that in the prog that 'dealt' with the Eton Choirbook, not a single track is by CCCOx / Darlington, who have made a point of working through the ECBook in a series of award-winning CDs.

Should I be surrpised, or just weary.

It didn't aim to do that, though - it was about Cornysh (with the possible addition of the possible other Cornysh).
