Elgar Cello Concerto - previously unreleased Du Pré live recording

Generous preview on website, whole of the first movement.

Never been a Sargent fan but BBCSO sound in cracking form. Hard to listen to Du Prez dispassionately, little rough in places maybe(?) but fabulous in others. Still, its a live concert and grateful to hear her in her early career. Any views?

Josquin Des Prez (c1440-1521), a famously prescient devotee of this concerto
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

Nothing to do with Simon Dupree and the Big Sound then!

Depressingly, his contribution is often overlooked.

Can anyone remember which performance the BBC Legends CD contained of Elgar du Pre/Sargent Proms recording ? This one or a later year ?

So unfair when he made such a major contribution to French war efforts over many centuries!

                    (Des Prez: De ma blonde.)

                    I'll just get mon manteau...
