Interesting, if I read that correctly: Mozart's 'little G minor' a brave 2nd to the 38th and just beating the Paris and the Jupiter? And 5 airings for No 1 - anything to do with the length, I wonder?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I think so, fits nicely into the playlist programme standard length. There's actually been a marked drop in the number of complete broadcasts of Mozart's symphonies over 2017. Compare the 2017 total of 73, to the six years from 2011-16 - 110,101,100,95,86,91

Only four women. They all show big (as in 'comparatively big') increases, but the top one, Clara S., only makes 86 (out of 120). Fanny M. and Judith Weir not unexpectedly present. Rebecca Clarke, at 111th, the "big" winner, up from 10 pieces to 54. Radigue? Radigue? Who she?

10 is Rebecca Clarke's average over the previous 8 years, she's been in the 20s in the previous 2 years (29 & 25). There are two women composers just outside the 50 threshold, Amy Beach with 49 and Chaminade with 46. After that it's Sally Beamish and Hildegard of Bingen with 35 each.

                        .
Not to mention - Alberga, Archer, Coulthard, Demessieux, Gipps, Glanville Hicks, Holmes, Hopekirk, Lutyens, Mucha, Pade, R Panufnik, Pentland, Radigue, Renie, Seeger, Tabakova, Tower, Trimble, Wallen, Williams, Zwilich and far too many others to list annually. I add names to this list every year always having discovered more. The station, in contrast, is static.

The management might like to have a look at this if it requires an imagination boost: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._by_birth_date.

And if the likes of Jess Phillips, Dawn Butler and Stella Creasy chose to wield some influence in this area rather than getting themselves listed as three of the ten most sweary MPs on Twitter we all might be better off. But one senses that it isn't any broad sophisticated cultural change for the commonweal that is being sought but rather the narrowest brute power.

Of course ER - Alkan - 8 (his equal worst showing since 2009), Meyer - nothing at all, Weinberg - 9

An amazing piece of work Suffolkcoastal, for which many thanks. Picking up the comments about the dearth of female representation, how did Louise Farrenc fare this year? I much enjoyed the CoW on her a few years ago (I think she was a 'listener choice' as the subject of an anniversary edition?), and bought some of her chamber music on CD as a result, but the unexpected exposure didn't seem to last long - or have I just missed it?

Farrenc held her own this year with 26 pieces/chunks, which is roughly on a par with 2016 & considerably better than between 2009-12. I personally find Farrenc to be an excellent composer and considerably more gifted than the more feted Clara Schumann.
