    Desperately seeking Shostakovich and Bruckner

I recently had the urge to listen to Stephen Johnson's "Discovering Music" episode on Shostakovich's 6th symphony but find it is one of very few no longer available on the iplayer. Does anyone know where it might be available please?

I would also love to have heard Stephen Johnson's 14 part Bruckner audio series for BBC Radio 3 (from 1996) called "A grand, mysterious harmony". Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try Barshai or Jansons complete cycles! Strongly recommended. Haitink too!

I can’t help you with the iplayer, which isn’t available here, but you Tube has a 13 minute clip of Leonard Bernstein discussing the Sixth

        Hiya Karafan,

Stephen Johnson, now he is a voice worth hearing on R3!

With the Shostakovich's 6th symphony I particularly admire Kurt Sanderling, Berlin SO/Berlin Classics & Rudolf Barshai, WDR Sinfonie/Brilliant Classics.

Might be worth emailing SJ from the link On his website. Good luck, I'd like to hear those broadcasts too.

Hmm. May 2000. There is just a vague possibility I have the DAB mp2 of that somewhere. It's the sort of thing I would have been likely to save from my old Psion Wavefinder. No promises, but I will have a look through old hard drives.

Hi and thanks, Teamsaint: I already did and even he hasn't heard the Bruckner one since broadcast!

They're on my groaning shelves and will get dusted down again soon - thanks.
