Semyon Bychkov to the Czech Philharmonic

Not sure if people had seen this already, but just in case, the official English-language statement link from the Czech Philharmonic, on the appointment of Semjon Byčkov (to use the Czech rendering of his name) in succession to Jiří Bělohlávek:

In one sense, it's not a surprise, given that the two seem to have a very good working relationship. The surprise seems to be that Bychkov said a few years back that he wanted a break from holding a principal conductorship anywhere. He must have felt very strongly about this offer to accept it, to state the very obviously inferred.

A great combination by the sound of things. Mrs. PG has connections with the Czech Philharmonic and word on the strasse is that the Orchestra is very happy.
