I presume that you are referring to a commercial recording; CD or DVD?

It was in 1976 that I produced a recording by the Bournemouth S.O of Deryck's 2nd Symphony for the BBC

I don't remember who was conducting on that occasion, but it was certainly not "Tod" Handley.

Mea culpa: 1968 was the date of composition. The recordings I have of Symphonies 2 and 4 are both off-air (not commercial) with the Bournemouth SO under Handley, the 4th dated 5 October 1979 and broadcast early the next year on 28 January, the 2nd (the file is labelled Handley) broadcast in 1976.

We have the famous oldest brass band contest today. Bourgeois's works were featured here and at the nationals. I hope next year there will some form of tribute to the man and his music for this medium.

HS, do you know Rodney Newton, at all? He knew DB as well.

... several versions of that piece also available on youTube; here's one:

And some of the Symphonies, too - the First, with the CBSO conducted by Willcocks:

... the Second, with the Bournemouth SO, conducted by Handley:

... and the Fourth, with the same artists:

... the Third (together with R3 introduction) with the BBC Concert Orch, conducted by Christopher Adey:

... the Fifth, also with R3 introduction, the composer conducting the Bournemouth Sinfonietta:

All very early ones; one cannot help but wonder why hardly any of the others have reached performance stage.
