RIP Ernst Ottensamer

Saturday 22nd this magnificent musician - Principal Clarinet in the Vienna Philharmonic - was felled at age 61 by a massive heart attack. His son Daniel also plays Clarinet in the VPO and second son Andreas is Principal in the Berlin Philharmonic. It's a huge shock to the musical world, but particularly in Vienna. Can there be a more distinguished musical name in that city than the Familie Ottensamer? Dreadful news:

This is very sad news indeed. A well known face of the VPO wind section and father to two leading clarinettists of the age.

Late 50s/early 60s can so often be a dangerous age for men but 61 is shockingly young.
