Opus 1 was a series of popular Halle Concerts in Manchester. It replaced the Industrial Concerts that had been sponsored and subsidised by local industries to encourage more working people to attend concerts.

But to answer the question: Schubert's Erlkönig.

Britten's Sinfonietta must be high up the list (my list, anyway!).

Dedicatoria, from Granados' Opus 1 Cuentos de la juventud, is one of my party pieces, in the transcription for guitar by Miguel Llobet, though I don't play it as well as Julian Bream. It opens his 1982 album Julian Bream plays Granados and Albeniz. He says of it: "The little piece by Granados that opens the recording - Dedicatiora from the album Cuentos para la juventud - is an early work, yet it reveals most cogently the genealogy of the composer's pedigree - nothing inherenly Spanish, in fact every bar of it could have been written by Robert Schumann!"

Lots of piano works featuring in the op 1 category.

I believe Hinters adds to that tally

Webern's Op. 1 'Passacaglia'. I played this as a teenager and, in my naivety, expected to hate it but ended up loving it.
