On the assumption that personal/family issues aren't behind this (and let's hope not) this is... interesting... given observation of a rather... interesting... BSO concert at Poole last autumn.

Remarkably, the ever cheery Norman Lebrecht doesn't seem to have picked up on this one yet. Give it time.

I'd agree with them - but open rebellion by one section, the principal in particular, during the curtain calls was a rather uncomfortable thing to watch... It probably happens a lot but very rarely in the public eye, for obvious reasons. It certainly soured the experience on that occasion.

Markovic was absent from the advertised OON concerts including Strauss' Alpine Symphony earlier this month - but I wasn't expecting this.
