Medtner Songs, 2 CDs on Delphian
Accompanist and maestro Ian Burnside with some highly original settings vividly put across by six singers - five Russian speakers and our own excellent Robin Tritschler.
CD2 begins arrestingly with Pushkin's Echo from baritone, Rodion Pogossov, most effective in the pleasantly resonant acoustic of Greyfriars Kirk, Edinburgh.

Beethoven
Symphonies nos. 1, 2, 4, 6, 9
Gewandhausorchester Leipzig / Franz Konwitschny
(rec 1959-1961)
Wow! These performances are revelatory. Absolutely loving traversing this set. Owned for a while, but only now listening. Well worth waiting for.
I decided a while back to immerse myself in my Beethoven symphony sets.

Then the Hungarian String Quartets, the Giulini Masses and maybe the Karajan Fidelio. Then play 'hide/seek' with the Piano Sonatas and Piano & Cello Sonatas. (Coat off hook.)
