Khatchaturian. Violin Concerto.
Igor Oistrakh, violin.
The Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Eugene Goosens. (Recorded 1953)
From the very recent 'Milestones of a Violin Legend' box set featuring the playing of Igor Oistrakh. A slightly dim recording but fabulous playing from all concerned!

Beethoven 'Waldstein' Sonata, played by Daniel Barenboim in Salzburg in 1970, on Orfeo. Such exquisite playing! Plenty of vigour too, when it's needed. Before he defected fully to conducting, never quite so good again, in my view.
Beethoven Sonata No 25 on G, op 79. Maurizio Pollini on DG in 1989. I love this underrated piece.Last edited by silvestrione; 29-05-19, 20:02.
