Just perfectly suited to my mood today. Sublime performances, IMVHO. Although 'young' Beethoven, Glenn Gould gives them a wonderfully mature sound.
I have always thought he is sometimes very unfairly maligned.

I found it curiously uninvolving, though that might just be my mood this afternoon.
A shame, since, like you, I can sometimes rate this as my favourite RVW work; but then I hear the fifth symphony again, and that supplants it!
Never mind. Other recordings are available; several are on my shelves.
Lucky Adrian Boult, to have had this score dedicated to him.Last edited by Pulcinella; 15-10-20, 16:56.

Downloaded from https://milanazaririchardbarrett.ban...m/album/mirage
Just be aware that if you want to burn it to CD-R you will have to convert it from 48kHz, 24 bit to 44.1kHz, 16 bit first. Oh, and the last of the 5 works on in the download is a binaural mix, so best listened to via headphones. The other four works are from live 2 channel stereo recordings as seen and heard online, recently. Much higher resolution here though.
Actually, come to think of it, some modern CD players can handle FLACs burned to CD-R as a data disc. If you're fortunate enough to have such a player, all five items would fit on a single CD-R in FLAC format.

As for favourite RVW - top 5 Job, S3, S5, S2 and Tallis - Boult (or Barbirolli, where available - pity there is no Job By JB!).Last edited by cloughie; 16-10-20, 09:23.
