I recall that when I got the LP of Les Noces, Renard, and Ragtime for 11 Instrument in my youth, I was much more taken with Renard and the Ragtime than Les Noces. Only later, after hearing other recordings, did the preference for Les Noces take over.

I got hold of most of the CBS Stravinsky recordings while I was in the sixth form, around 1968, from a small independent record shop in an arcade in Southport, of all unlikely places. They were reasonably priced, but came into the shop in dribs and drabs (overstock? deletions?) and I effectively had a standing order there!
I know I had the Craft version of Les noces (coupled with Mavra)
Stravinsky: Mavra & Les Noces. Sony: G010003472759A. Buy download online. Susan Belinck (Parasha), Mary Simmons (The Mother), Patricia Rideout (The Neighbour), Stanley Kolk (Vasili/Mavra), Mildred Allen (soprano), Adrienne Albert (mezzo-soprano), Jack Litten (tenor), William Metcalf (bass) CBC Symphony Orchestra, Gregg Smith Singers, The Ithaca College Concert Choir,...

and I probably had the (English) Stravinsky one you mention too
Stravinsky conducts Stravinsky: Les Noces, Renard & Rag-Time. Sony: G010003471380R. Buy download online. Mildred Allen (soprano), Regina Sarfaty (mezzo-soprano), Loren Driscoll (tenor), Robert Oliver (bass), Lukas Foss (piano), Aaron Copland (piano), Roger Sessions (piano), Samuel Barber (piano), American Concert Choir, Columbia Percussion Ensemble, George Shirley (tenor), William Murphy (baritone),...

I bought the study score of Les noces on 10 November 1973, so must have been impressed/interested enough to want to get to know it better, but I suspect influenced by the Craft version rather than Stravinsky's own. I don't think that I had another LP version at that point, but can't remember now.

Levitt playing the sixth Bach Keyboard Partita, terrific, especially in the extraordinary smouldering Sarabande.

I know teamsaint usually posts what he's cooking and then what he might be listening to at the same time on the cooking thread, but I'm doing it the other way round!

                          Spanish night here:

                          Falla
A Spanish 2CD set called Lo mejor de Falla

El amor brujo, El sombrero de tres picos, Noches en los jardines de Espana......

Anything to brighten up the incessant rain we've had pretty much all day.

To accompany a chicken (yes, it's that Pedants' Paradise pre-bought chicken leftovers) and chorizo paella, with a bottle of Tempranillo.
But we couldn't wait till 8 or 9 pm to eat.
