Revision: Since the Ives was never 'completed' (its composer continued to tinker with it over the years, and stressed its improvisatory aspects) I have starts the follow-on not with M-AH's Hyperion recording but his earlier New World one (sans ossia instrumental contribution) them his Hyperion (flute but no viola), concluding with the Gilbert Kalish (both ossia instrumental contributions).

              Why?
Is it a very slow performance?

No, it's just that the merrymaking peasants have to go and wash their hands every time they come closer than 2 metres from one another.

First movement is, er, not the moden way, I think.

...and maybe they know there’s a storm brewing!

                          Zinman 10.20.
                          Kubelik 11.04
                          Bohm 12.20 .

So doesn't seem to be an outlier, really, though I suspect Zinman is much more typical of modern performances.
I’ll dig out a Karajan. I expect Petrushka will have an encyclopedic knowledge to save me the bother though!!

I’ve nor checked timings but I think E Kleiber and the PO Karajan from the 50s were pretty quick!

Perhaps they had advance notice of the approaching storm.
