One of my first classical disks (which I had originally in its HMV Classics form) and still one of my favourites.

Nielsen Flute Concerto; Clarinet Concerto (1926/28).
            Langevin/McGill/NYPO/Gilbert. DaCapo SACD/CD.
Each time I return, I have to play these remarkable works more than once... so mysterious, adventurous, inventive and farseeing... fascinating links to the 6th Symphony as well. Flowing, tactfully understated performances, in lovely warm mid-hall sound. Intellectual, imaginative challenge and Ear-balm. What more etc.....

Sebastian Fagerlund "Transit" Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra (2013).
            Eskelinen/Finnish RSO/Lintu. BIS SACD/CD.
Another Concerto from the North....Baffled at first as the gongs resound, impressed by the imagination and sense of threatening power in reserve after 2nd hearing..... quite a piece.... on with the 3rd....
Fagerlund has certainly moved on from the Clarinet & Violin Concertos...

Lyapunov Sextet & Gretchaninov 3rd String Quartet (Dante Quartet + John Thwaites piano & Leon Bosch db)

A recent s/h purchase, made more interesting after hearing Leon Bosch presenting on R3 on Saturday.
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

None but the lonely heart. Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto and other works.

                    Daniel Lozakovich, violin.

The National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia conducted by Vladimir Spivakov.

                    Deutsche Grammophon.

One of the latest hot shot fiddle players displaying his talent. Very fine playing if, perhaps, not hitting the heights by Mr. Heifetz, Igor Oistrakh or Janine Jansen to name but three of my favourite exponents of this, my favourite violin concerto. What lets the concerto down, imvho, is the rather run of the mill conducting.

CD shouldn't be too expensive... it's worth it IMO.

Bruckner 5, Karajan/Berlin, on Blu Ray. So far, a lot more atmospheric than the CD version

Fun when one thing leads to another. I am re-reading my Penguin Book of Classical Myths - details tend to become a bit hazy over time. Getting into the Labours of Heracles I was reminded that for the Greeks the Ocean was a river that encircled the flat earth. This made me listen to The Oceanides by Sibelius (Lahti Symphony Orchestra with Osmo Vänskä on BIS). This is followed on the same disc by Luonnotar - rivetingly sung by Helena Juntunen - also on a watery theme. I then became mildly obsessed with this work and the bizarre imagery of its text and listened to several more versions on Spotify (it only lasts about eight minutes).

a telling example of the benefits which BluRay, even in 2-channel form, can bring to what originally on LP didn’t sound all that wonderful.
